Drink Lots of Green Tea To Cut Out Heart Disease

Health, Healthy Eating, Eat This

Let this kill any doubt that green tea is good for the heart - a new study out of Japan, appearing in the Annals of Epidemiology, has found that aged individuals of both sexes who consume seven cups of green tea per day cut risk of cardiovascular death by over 75%! That is huge!

In the study, researchers followed 12,251 senior subjects, between the ages of 65 and 84, for up to six years between December of 1999 and March of 2006. Subjects who drank seven cups of green tea per day also had a 55% lower risk of death from any cause compared to those who drank less than one cup per day.

Heavy green tea drinkers were also found to have risk of death from colorectal cancer a significant 31% lower than light drinkers.

Advice, Health, Healthy Eating, Dear Healthy Foodie

Hi Doug,

A question for your consideration: Are there different health benefits of drinking white tea versus drinking green tea?

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Great question. Yes, there are differences between white tea and green tea. There are differences between all varieties of tea, and this seems like a good opportunity to talk about the differences in teas and their health benefits.
