6 Easy Ways to Fit Exercise Into Your Daily Routine
We all know that keeping fit is important, but it can still be tough to fit an exercise routine into a hectic life schedule. We asked personal trainer Kathleen Trotter to offer some quick and easy tips for fitting fitness into your daily life. Her tips?
1. Park your car 10 minutes away from work and walk or get off public transit one stop early
2. Take the stairs instead of the escalator
3. Get a skipping rope and try to jump rope for 10 minutes every morning and/or every night! Skipping is great cardio and you get a lot of benefit in a short amount of time.
4. "Forget" things in the basement, or on the second floor of your house or in a co-workers' office and then walk extremely briskly to retrieve it.
5. When you are brushing your teeth or doing the dishes, stand on one leg to challenge your balance and core muscles.
6. Buy a pedometer and monitor how many steps you take on the first day you wear it. Then be competitive with yourself. Try to increase your number of steps each day. Eventually, you want to aim for 10,000 or more steps a day.
Remember, every little bit and baby step helps when it comes to keeping fit!
